What I'm packing for Europe: The ultimate packing list for long trips

europe-packing-list

I can't believe than in less than a week I'll be flying out to London!

I'm meeting my mom there and we'll be visiting different cities in Europe for the following 15 to 20 days. We did a similar trip almost 10 years ago, and I'm super excited to get to experience it all over again.

Since I like to pack light, and I never travel with anyting bigger than a carry on (most of the time I travel with this underseater suitcase) the clothes that I pick for my trips need to fall into the following criteria: Versatile, comfy, casual but easy to dress up. The idea is to pack as little as possible while at the same time having plenty of options to wear no matter the ocassion or weather. Another thing that helps me a lot is to acomplish this is to chose a color scheme, that way is easier to put together outfits. Getting ready is also faster!

Midi Dresses
Midi dresses are my favorite because you can wear them with sandals during the day or wear them for  a casual dinner paired with heels. They look really chic both ways. There are still a few sizes available of my favorite Stripes midi dress ever!

Satin dress
I always make sure to pack a satin dress just in case I have a fancy dinner, or a date night. Just pair them with heeled sandals and you're ready to go. If you want to use them during the day , pair them with a jacket or t-shirt and sneakers. This black satin dress is my favorite, runs small so size up.

Short dresses
These are a must for hot days. Remember the #1 rule: The dresses you pack need to work for day and night, you should be able to dress them up and down efortlessy. Cami dresses are also a great option.  This wrap dress goes everywhere with me.

Denim dress
Lately I'm super into denim dresses like this one , they're very form flattering, look good with sneakers and sandals and you can wear them a few different ways. This black version is also a favorite , I'm taking both on this trip.

Jumpsuits
"One piece" clothing items like dresses and jumpsuits are perfect for those moments when you need to get ready in a rush. I love jumpsits because they look super chic with heels but they're really confy to walk around all day long too. I wore this one for an 8 hour road trip to Nashville, it's the comfiest thing, and IT HAS POCKETS

White buttoned shirt
A timeless basic. You can pair it with jeans, shorts, skirts, buttoned up or knotted on the front wear it over a midi dress. Possibilities are endless

Striped tee
Stripes look good with everything! An stripped shirt looks really cute with dark pants, cotton shorts, jeans etc.

Basic tees
I always pack a black and a white tee. I love wearing them tucked in or knotted on the front. I usually get my tees HERE for less than $5.

Camisoles
I love camisoles, you can't go wrong with them. You can dress them up or down (number #1 rule remember?) I usually pack a few in different colors and it's what I wear most of the time. All my camis are from this store who carries them in petite, full bust and regular sizes.

Denim short
During hot days shorts and a t-shirt are my go-to. Donwside is that when you have to walk a ton these may not be the most confortable option. These 3 linked below are my faves, all of them are true to size.

Paperbag short
For those days when you need a short that is loose, airy and comfy. I like pairing them with camisoles and sandals for a comfy yet polished look. These come in two colors and are currently on sale. This is the one I have and it's currently on sale, size down one or two sizes.

Jeans
I typically wear these while I travel just because they take a lot of space in my suitcase. Mom jeans  are my preferred option because they're a little bit baggy and super high waisted which makes them very comfy as well. They also look really chic paired with jeans or sneakers. All my mom jeans are second hand luckily they're back in style and available everywhere.

Block heels
I like dressing up so I always pack a pair of heels, specially for dinner or going out at night. In Europe a lot of streets are cobblestone so block heels are a safer and confier option

White sneakers
On my last trip I wore these sneakers and walked miles on them, so I'm planning to take them with me again. They are canvas and get dirty easily so I've been debating if I should take my leather chuks instead

Every day shoes.
Every trip I pack ONLY 3 pairs of shoes: heels, sneakers and my "everyday shoe". The last one can change depending where I go.  This time I'm taking these chunky sandals, they're not only trendy and look cool with everything, they're also super comfy.

Linen or knit pants
For those days when you don't want to wear dresses but it's too hot for jeans linen pants or cotton pants are a lifesaver. I just got these and I'm obsessed, they run big so size down.

Cardigan
Sometimes it gets chilly at night, so I always make sure to pack a cardigan. I like them in neutral colors like brown, black or gray

Leather jacket.
Another option to keep me warm on a chilly day but more chic than a cardi. It's also a better option for the nights I dress up, I can pair it with my jumpsuit, over a cami paired with jeans and heels, or over a midi dress. This brand has the cutest jackets .

a cute backpack
A back pack that doubles as a tote and fits a lot of stuff is a MUST . This one fits my camera, wallet, sunscreen, a little makeup bag and it still has plenty of space left just in case I buy a souvenir, or if I want to pack a sweater.

Scarves
Some places in europe have an strict dress code where you can't show your shoulders/arms. It's always a good idea to keep a scarf of pashmina in your purse to make sure you can visit those places while wearing a cami or sleeveless top. They are also a great hair accesory, belt, top, etc.

4 ways to wear leopard print

This post is sponsored by Walmart. All the opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog going.

Leopard print is a classic thas been around forever and it keeps going strong for this upcoming season. Adding a little bit of this bold pattern can really make your outfit POP. I know that for many of us, wearing leopard feels like a risky move, but in fact, leopard is very wearable and easy to style. The key is to let your leopard piece be the statement and keep the rest of the outfit simple.  Today I'm teaming up with Walmart Fashion to show you 4 different ways to wear Leopard.

... and everything is from Walmart!

Walmart is one of my favorite destinations to shop online in a budget, the variety of brands, styles, and products they have never stops amazing me. To make things even better (not so much for my wallet) they recently partnered with Lord & Taylor and now Walmart Fashion also carries premium brands.

SHOP THE POST:

Ok, let's talk about these outfits:

1. A pretty slip skirt

I fell in love with these satin midi skirts since the first time I saw them. They're a bold yet feminine piece that look really chic paired with white or black tops of any kind and neutral sandals or boots.  Pairig this leopard slip midi skirt from Love Sadie with a mock neck bodysuit and a faux-leather jacket, make this outfit perfect for early fall.

2. A flowy feminine top

Feminine pieces make you feel and look classy.  I love the contrast between girly and edgy pieces so I paired this Love Sadie Top with my Levi's New boyfriend Jeans,   pointed toe stilettos and a faux-leather jacket. This outfit would work as good with skinny jeans and high heel sandals too.

3.  Shoes

If a skirt or a top feels like a little bit to much, then wear your leopard on your feet! Jeans + a basic top + leopard shoes is a formula that never fails. You can literally wear this outfit on a thousand of different ways just changing the jean fit and the color of the top. By the way, colors like, navy, black, beige, white, brown and burgundy look best with this print.

4. Accesories

Sometimes less is more. A small crossbody, cute earrings or a belt can make a powerful statement on a monochrome or basic outfit. I'm wearing the exact same wide crop jeans and the mock neck bodysuit than in the previous outfit but it feels like a different outfit because now the accesories are the focal point. These earrings are definitely an statement piece.

Three fashion buys to refresh your Summer/Vacay wardrobre

summer-fashion-essentials

Summer is my favorite season. I love the weather, all the festivals around the city and most importantly , I love summer fashion!! As soon as the temperature starts raising up I want to buy all the crop tops, shorts, sundresses and swimsuits I laid my eyes on.  Most of the time I don't even get to wear all my summer purchases because in the blink of an eye summer is gone and is time to put the summer clothes in storage until next year. It's not until that moment when I realize that I spent more money that I should've in things I DIDN'T NEED.

I know summer is almost over, but since we've been talking about shopping smart. I wanted to keep the conversation going and share with you the only 3 things you need if you want to update your summer wardrobe:

_____________________________________

A FEW FEMININE CROP TOPS:  Crop tops are my summer obsession, they're a much lighter option that a basic tee and they come in many different styles. My favorites are the ruffled crop tops. I think they look a little bit dressier and are much more versatile than a basic cropped tank.

SLIDE SANDALS: Look for a pair of slides that goes well with everything and are comfy enough to wear everyday. This year I saw these everywhere and I think they're perfect.

AN STATEMENT BAG: During summer I tend to lean towards very simple outfits typically a crop top o basic tee, paired with shorts or pants and sandals to finish the look. Adding an statement bag makes a simple outfit pop. Straw bags made an appearance last summer and they're still going strong. I got this one from zappos and I love it. It's the perfect mix between a classic and a straw bag, definitely more versatile than your regular "vacay straw bag" as well.

How to expand your shoe collection on a budget

shoeddlaze-sandals-outfit

I'm wearing: Shoeddazle Jeezebel Strappy sandals (Get your first pair of shoes for $10 when you sign up for Shoedazzle VIP memebership) | Aldo Bag | Forever 21 top (old) - they have tons on their "Logo Shop" | Forever 21 skirt (old) - similar and only $13 this one is on sale for less than $15 - this one is available in petite and regular

How many shoes are too many shoes? I'm not proud to admit that I think I own over 100 pairs ... and counting #sorrynotsorry. At this point you're probably thinking that I spend a lot of money on shoes, but I really don't. Truth is I'm more like a shoe hoarder that also knows where to scout the best deals! Here are some of the things I've learned over the years about shopping for shoes on a budget:

1. Wait until your favorite brands have sales

Some of the brands I recommend that I love and always have the best deals are:

Naturalizer: They're prices range from $80 to $150 but they often have promo codes for up to 50% off , they also put a lot of their stuff for sale at the end of the season or when they have low stock in a product. Another thing I love is that their shoes are the comfiest, I wrote a review of their spring styles here and styled a pair of pumps from day to night here .

Sam edelman: They usually have sales and promo codes for their employees or sister brands employees and they can get their shoes for as low as 50% off. I know this is not an easy one, but I you know someone , don't be affraid to ask them.

Steve Madden: This is my go-to place to shop for trendy shoes on a budget. I rarely see any promos on their website, but I've found that their outlet carries the same styles and they always have a clearance section with prices as low as $19.

2. Enroll in Shoedazzle VIP

I think suscriptions are a great way to stay in a budget IF you commit yourself to ONLY purchase something new through your suscription. It is almost as if you give you a monthly allowance to spend on shoes.
What I like abour Shoedazzle is that they have TONS of styles from classic pumps, to trendy heels, casual flats, and all kinds of sneakers and sandals.  The VIP membership is about $35 per month which is about what a pair of shoes cost. However your first pair will be $10 after you enroll. Talk about savings! Another think I like is that you can skip a month, or just let the credits on your account and save them for any future purchase.

3. Don't be affraid to spend more on a classic or versatile pair of shoes.

I know we are talking about shopping on a budget but it's not all about the price, cost per wear is something we should think about when shopping. Think about this, getting a pair of neon yellow studded stilettos with 5 inches heel for 20 bucks sounds like a great deal right? But realistically, how many times are you going to wear those heels in a year? 1 or 2 tops, and only for a few hours because they're probably the most unconfortable shoes ever. On the other hand, getting a timeless pair of black leather pumps (these are my ABSOLUTE favorite and extremely comfy) for $200 sounds like a huge investement, however you're probably going to wear those more ofter and way more times. Considering you wear your "expensive" black pumps once a week for a year the cost per wear is about $3 (150 dollars/52 weeks = $2.8) VS the cost per wear of the neon pumps of $10 (or maybe $20).

4. Explore other options

If you're like me you're probably always shopping from the same stores all-the-time, why fix it if it's not broken? am I right? Well, NO! Change is good once in a while. Think about all the stores you've never shopped before, take a look and you'd be surprised of the things you'd find. For example, one day sneaking around target shoe section I realized their clearance section (in store) has shoes for as low as $5!!.  On another ocassion while I was binge watching youtube videos I came accross these "walmart shopping hauls", I seriously had no idea they had so many cute shoes in Walmart and ... wait for it ... they also have premium brands. We're talking about Vince Camuto, Sam Edelman, Lord & Taylor , Lucky Brand , Badgley Mischka and more. I recently got these Nine West Pumps for less than $50 there!

2. Suscribete a Shoedazzle VIP
