The one summer collection you need to check out right now

One of the things I really like about having this little space of mine are all the opportunities I get to collaborate with brands that I love and I've been using forever, but also to discover new brands and try their products.

I rencelty collaborated with Karen Kane on an instagram post (no they're not sponsoring this post) and I really liked the clothing they sent me, the quality is great and I loved that their new collection has lots of spring and summer pieces that are appropiate for work but ready to meet your girls at a rooftop right after. For real!! They have lots of flowy tops (with and witouth sleeves) knee lengh dresses , and maxi dresses that would be super cute for your next summer vacay. You definitely need to check them out.

Here are some of my favorite pieces:

The cargo jacket, a must have.

cargo-jacket-outfit

I'm wearing: Forever 21 basic tee |  Levis mile high supper skinny jeans . They come in black too  | Cargo Jacket from stitfix (get a $25 credit with this link) - love this one for less than $35 | Shoes - Dansko Odina (run big, I recommend to size down) - I also love these VANS leather slip ons

It's July already but here in Chicago doesn't feel like summer yet. Although is definitely warmer than it was a month ago, sometimes a light jacket is still much needed, specially during the night.

A cargo jacket is my go-to during those days. It goes well with everything. You know most of the time I'm super casual so I like to wear mine with simple t-shirts jeans and comfy shoes. You can also wear it over a floral dress (I love the mix of girly and edgy) , or make it a little bit dressier by pairing with a feminine cami and heels for a date night.

Once summer kicks-in definitely Chicago is the prettiest. Summer time in Chicago makes you forget about the never ending winter and you fall in love with the city once again.  I love spending as much time as I can outside, so brunch and drinks on a patio or a rooftop are a must. Here are some of my favorite places:

1. Cyndi's rooftop (donwntown):  Drinks are delicious and you get a really nice view to millenium park . I'm pretty sure this is all the way through fall and maybe some winter months.

2. LondonHouse (downtown):  The view from this rooftoop is amazing, you can see pretty much all the river and the surroundings in downtown.  This place can be pricey but I think it's totally worth it

3. Park & Field (wicker park): Also open all year round, this patio offers tons of cozy seating, firepits , brunch options and fun games. It's always really crowded so I recommend going early

4. Cabra (fulton market): I recently visited this one but I really liked the menu, they have a lot of ceviches and cold plates, just what you need during this summer weather. Their outside area has a pool!

5. City winery (dontown): Located in the riverwalk this is a good place to stop by if you're by the area. You can order a wine, sit outside by the stairs on the riverwalk and watch the boats and doggies pass by. Gets me in that summer mood every time.

6. VU rooftop bar (south loop): I think this is one of the few rooftoops in south loop and definitely a good one. Also open all year round, the patio has retractable glass walls and firepits for when the temperatures drop.

7. Aire (donwntwon): Located on the Hyatt centric , this rooftop offers really good views of the area, a huge patio with umbrellas and a really good menu of small bites, wine & drinks.

8. La sirena Clandestina (fulton market): Although this patio is small and honestly not that cute it needed to be on the list just because they have a really good happy hour menu that includes, empanadas, salads and tasty caipirihnas every tuesday from 5 to 7. I love a happy hour that I can actually make it to after work

9. Federales (fulton market): Must go for a good vibe and even better tacos. I feel it's always a good time no matter when you go.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to do a photoshoot with Josh Purnell from JPImages. When he reached me out he showed me some of his pictures and I really liked his moody edits and the way he captures the urban surroundings. Totally different from what you're used to see here. Bright photos typically shoot in front of white walls or open spaces, your regular blogger photos right?.

I wanted him to take pictures of me on his own style but I still wanted the photos to be me. You know what I mean? So I opted for a casual outfit with a simple t-shirt and my favorite thrifted mom jeans,  and threw a leather jacket on top to finish the look. To add a little bit of glam I added my "cinderella heels" from FSJ shoes that I'm madly in in love with , they're super cute!

There's no doubt that a nice pair of heels is sometimes all you need to glam up your outfit. My favorite type of heel are pumps and pointed toe booties. They're super versatile, they go well with girly and edgy outfits and they can be worn all year long. I found tons of really cool heels on FSJ shoes, check their website HERE.

Also, what do you think about Josh's photos? I love them. I have over 100 of them but here are some of my absolute favorites:
